VOX and VISIONS invite you to a special evening with the artists of the exhibition One’s Own Eyes. Moving between the frames of its installations Lovers’ Wind (2024) and Chooka (2018), the trio unfolds a live reading and performance–following images as they oscillate across cycles of violence and war.

Depuis 2013, Parastoo Anoushahpour, Faraz Anoushahpour et Ryan Ferko ont développé une pratique artistique commune dans laquelle les archives et les dispositifs de production d’images servent à la fois de terrains de jeu, d’outils de subversion et de catalyseurs de rencontres, alors qu’ils explorent les territoires et leurs récits. Ces autopsies géographiques s’appuient sur des corps qui font obstacle à la caméra et sur des manipulations de la pellicule qui perturbent la lisibilité — révélant, d’une image à l’autre, des nœuds relationnels reliant les sites observés à la construction des identités nationales, à l’extractivisme et aux migrations qui en découlent.
Since 2013, Parastoo Anoushahpour, Faraz Anoushahpour and Ryan Ferko have honed a shared art practice in which archives and image-making apparatuses function as fields of play, tools of subversion, and initiators of encounters as they examine territories and their narratives. These geographical autopsies rely on bodies that obstruct the camera and manipulations of film stock that disrupt readability—revealing, from one frame to the next, relational nodes linking the sites observed to the construction of national identities, extractivism, and the ensuing migrations.

VOX et VISIONS vous invitent à une soirée spéciale en compagnie des artistes de l’exposition De ses propres yeux. À cette occasion, le trio sort du cadre de leurs installations Lovers’ Wind et Chooka pour proposer une lecture et performance en direct, répondant aux images projetées au fur et à mesure qu’elles se répondent et s’entrechoquent dans un cycle de violence et de guerre.
La projection-performance sera suivie d’un échange avec Parastoo Anoushahpour, Faraz Anoushahpour et Ryan Ferko, modéré par Benjamin R. Taylor et Doriane Biot.
Leur exposition à VOX, intitulée De ses propres yeux, explore plusieurs régions d’Iran en retraçant les parcours de deux cinéastes qui ont documenté les mêmes paysages : Albert Lamorisse et Jacques Madvo. Les artistes rassemblent des extraits de leurs films, ainsi que des enregistrements sonores et des photographies, tout en recourant à des stratégies ludiques et spéculatives pour créer de multiples perspectives sur ces lieux, ces époques et ces présences spectrales.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Parastoo Anoushahpour, Faraz Anoushahpour, and Ryan Ferko, moderated by Benjamin R. Taylor and Doriane Biot.
Their exhibition at VOX, titled One’s Own Eyes, visits several regions of Iran, tracing the paths of two filmmakers who documented the same landscapes: Albert Lamorisse and Jacques Madvo. The artists marshal excerpts from their films along with sound recordings and photographs, while deploying playful and speculative strategies to generate multiple perspectives on these sites, time periods, and spectral presences.
